Meet Heidi
Grab a coffee (or a Diet Coke, no judgment) because we’re doing a formal-ish introduction! ☕️ I’m trying really hard not to sound like a LinkedIn profile that’s had too much espresso. 😅
I’ve been a homeschool mama since 2015, but my “maker” origin story goes way back. I’ve been sewing since I was small enough to think the foot pedal was a gas pedal. Fast forward to high school: while everyone else was in sequins for Senior Ball, I showed up in a custom-made gown… that was actually pants. Very Pretty in Pink meets “I do what I want.” 💅
Here’s the “411” on me: I’ve got certificates in Dressmaking & Design and Bridal Consulting (which mostly means I can handle a crisis involving a zipper and a panicked bridal party). I’ve been running my Etsy shop and website for over a decade, evolving from baby blankets to high-tech machine embroidery. I’ve spent years in the trenches at JoAnn’s and Castle Bridal (the stories I could tell…), and I’ve had my own handmade biz since 2010. I’ve made everything from diaper bags to “in-the-hoop” educational toys & dress-up masks and costumes to couture.
Now? I’m combining my love for learning with my “Steady” 2026 theme to teach sewing to the next generation. I’m basically the Mr. Miyagi of sewing and embroidery machines—except I use a commercial 15-needle machine that’s basically the “Optimus Prime” of my sewing room and my mom’s vintage Kenmore instead of a wax-on, wax-off situation. Let’s make some cool stuff and try not to sew through our fingers, okay?
