Description
Have you ever wondered why store-bought items feel crisp while handmade ones can feel “floppy”? The answer is interfacing! This week, we dive into the world of stabilizers and professional finishes.
What we will cover in this session:
-
Interfacing 101: Identifying the “glue” side and understanding how heat-activated stabilizers work.
-
The “Press, Don’t Iron” Technique: Learning the proper way to fuse layers without shifting the fabric.
-
Topstitching Mastery: Practicing perfectly straight, visible stitches around the very edge of a project.
-
Decorative Finishes: Introduction to the Blanket Stitch for a beautiful, hand-finished look.
The Project: Each student will complete a Designer Fabric Bookmark. This is a fantastic “scrap-buster” project that teaches students how to turn small pieces of fabric into durable, high-quality gifts.
Note: This is Week 6 of our 10-week series. Purchase this individual session, or save by enrolling in the full course!
