Description
It’s time for the project everyone has been waiting for! The scrunchie is a rite of passage for every new sewist. While it looks simple, it teaches several critical skills about assembly and elastic management.
What we will cover in this session:
-
The “Tube” Construction: Learning how to sew a long, narrow cylinder and turn it right-side out.
-
Elastic Management: How to use a safety pin as a “leader” and how to securely overlap elastic so it never snaps.
-
Fabric Textures: Discussing “Nap”—how to handle the direction of fabrics like velvet or corduroy.
-
The Invisible Close: Closing the final seam so the raw edges are completely hidden inside.
The Project: Students will make a Classic Fabric Scrunchie. This project is fast, fun, and highly addictive—don’t be surprised if they want to go home and make ten more!
Note: This is Week 7 of our 10-week series. Purchase this individual session, or save by enrolling in the full course!
