Description
Ready to master the sewing machine? This week is all about building confidence with “the pedal to the metal.” Students will learn how to set up their workspace and handle fabric as it moves through the machine.
What we will cover in this session:
-
Machine Basics: Understanding the presser foot, needle position, and the power of the backstitch.
-
The Golden Rule: Mastery of “Right Sides Together” (RST) for professional-looking hidden seams.
-
Creating a Casing: Learning how to sew a “tunnel” for drawstrings and ribbons.
-
Fabric Spotlight: Working with quilting cotton and understanding why it’s the best choice for new sewists.
The Project: Students will construct a Drawstring Treasure Bag. This project teaches the essential skills of sewing straight lines, turning corners, and threading a drawstring using a “leader” tool.
Note: This is Week 2 of our 10-week series. Purchase this individual session, or save by enrolling in the full course!
