Description
March is for Makers!
Building a new skill requires a steady start. In this 3-week introductory bundle, 7th and 8th-grade students will move through the essential “building blocks” of sewing. By the end of March, your student will not only have three finished projects but the confidence to operate a sewing machine independently.
March Curriculum Highlights:
-
Week 1: The Hand-Sewing Toolkit We start with the “Big Three” hand stitches and button sewing. Students will create a Felt Needle Book—a professional tool they will use for years to come.
-
Week 2: Into the Machine Students transition to the sewing machine, learning about thread tension, safety, and the “Golden Rule” of Right Sides Together (RST). Project: The Drawstring Treasure Bag.
-
Week 3: Precision & Finishing We master the “Pivot” for perfect corners and learn the invisible Ladder Stitch for a professional finish. Project: The Scented Eye Pillow (Flax & Lavender).
